Work
Over a period of 11 years, myriad interconnected product sites, promotional sites, social and informational content programs, and more.
An overview of select sites, subsites and promotions I worked on for the Dog Chow and Puppy Chows brands over my career. I was a writer through 2006, when my role expanded. By 2008 I was creative lead and a key digital strategist for the brand, while still retaining many day-to-day creative duties.
The home page of the brand hub at LongLiveYourDog.com. The design effectively balanced the idea of celebrating the individual dog with the idea that this was a brand for "the masses." It was largely unchanged from 2006 to 2012 and scored high marks for usability and appeal throughout that time.
THE DOG PARK: A private social network for dogs and dog owners. Launched in 2006, before all social networks came under Facebook's sway, it helped connect the brand to 'everydogs' everywhere.
BANNERS: This simple banner was one of a series which collectively were the best traffic drivers I ever helped create. The video area actually streamed a few seconds of one of several amusing dog videos. Users could expand a panel to watch that one video, then click through to the Dog Park to watch more. Millions did so.
PROMOTIONAL MICROSITES: After 2008, the brands began a series of tie-ins to entertainment properties, for which we designed promotional microsites and media campaigns.
CONTENT MARKETING: In 2009, I led a revamp of the brands' digital puppy care program, which builds engagement with consumers through valuable, relevant content. I wrote or edited most of the 130+ articles on the site at the time, as well as the supporting assets like emails.
